Jessica and Jimmy- North Kingstown, RI and East Greenwich, RI Engagement Photos

Jessica and Jimmy contacted me from their home in Texas about doing some engagement photos when they were home for the holidays. Jimmy's family is in CT, so they graciously met me here so I wouldn't have to drive too far (a little over five weeks until the baby is here!) We had such a great time together. I could tell they are so in love and excited to start their life together. Jessica is going to school to be a teacher so we had lots to talk about over email prior to her visiting and Jimmy just started medical school. I am also designing an album for them- they are going to use it as a signing book at the wedding. Thank you, Jessica and Jimmy, for taking the drive up. It was a pleasure!

Erin and Michael Get Married- Bristol, RI and Cranston, RI Wedding Photography

Erin is a sweetheart who works in the same school system as I do. We met through the bulletin when I placed an ad for photos- which is funny since we taught in the same school for a year but never met with our opposite schedules. Fast forward a few years and now that we don't teach in the same school, we talk all the time! She and Michael had a very specific vision for their wedding day at the beautiful Bristol Harbor Inn and the focus was on family. The wedding was small and each guest at the wedding was someone near and dear to Erin and Michael. Their son, Ryan, was also involved in all the festivities. Both of Erin's parents and her son walked her down the aisle which was a touching thing to see. Overall, the weather was beautiful (well, quite windy and cold but certainly sunny with a great sunset) and the day went perfectly. Congratulations to two wonderful people!

Megan and Chris- Rhode Island Engagement Photography

Megan and Chris came to see me for some engagement photos and knew just the place they wanted to go-- the beach where they got engaged a few months ago. We met on a WINDY and SUNNY morning and had a lot of fun. It was such a pleasure to photograph two people who are laid back, fun and brought their compression socks as a prop. I told Megan that when you are pregnant and they tell you to wear compression socks, it's just not as cool as when you wear them because you're an athlete! Megan and Chris, you two, are very cool. I can't wait to photograph your wedding next year.

I Heart Faces- Black

This week's challenge from I Heart Faces must feature the color black but not be a black and white photo. I chose this one because I thought the dark edges of the forest we took this in really added a mystical quality.  What's really interesting is directly in back of me was the beach and it was the bluest sky and ocean ever. Those mysterious trees changed the whole look and feel of the photo but then we were able to turn around and go back to sunny beachy skies! Amazing!

Jeff and Kristi Get Married- East Providence, RI Wedding Photography

Jeff and Kristi were married at Wannamoisett Country Club in East Providence in September. It was a really fun day. The weather was perfect and the sun was at a great angle for the formals. You can see a lot of their other pictures here but I just wanted to share some of my favorite of the two of them from the day. Best wishes to an awesome couple that I met through Jeff's sister, who is also a teacher. See, teachers know everyone hahaha!

Avery's 6 Month Portraits- Cranston, RI and North Providence, RI Portrait Photography

Avery is such a joy to photograph. She's really easy going and allows her mom to dress her in several outfits per session, which is good because her mom has a flair for buying the right clothes to capture many different moods, feels and holidays! This last session was a combo Christmas card, Halloween, one dressy and one casual outfit session. It was great. The sun was coming down at just the right time and I was able to do some family portraits as well. I can't wait to see what Avery's mom cooks up for our next session!

Julie's Getting Ready! - Cranston, RI and North Kingstown, RI Wedding Photography

Many of you know that I had the great pleasure of being a bridesmaid in my best friend Julie's wedding, as well as the unofficial getting ready photog. I won't deny that I was torn in a  sense- I so desperately wanted to be able to be in the wedding AND photograph the whole day (or even just until she had her dress on but clearly we were involved in the lacing of that gorgeous corset!). However, being a bridesmaid comes with its official duties and honestly, by the time the ceremony rolled around, I forgot all about the camera because I was having too much fun. I made Bryan go and get my camera and I took like 3 pictures at the reception. The only thing I wish I had a picture to share was how spectacular the room looked. Kate was the maid of honor and wedding planner (we like to do double duty in this group with Kelly serving as bridesmaid and the un-pregnant fun one ha ha!) and handmade so many delicate details. After cocktail hour, the sun was setting and the crystals hanging in each of the windows provided such a glow, combined with the twinkle of the lights strung on the rafters. All the navy and ivory linens and the funky chalkboard menu- it really was a site! Add to that the favors we hand cut and hot glued (maybe a finger or two as well) and the centerpieces bursting with yellow, white and orange- it was just beautiful. And speaking of beautiful...here are just a few photos including some of the vintage cars that were probably my favorite little detail (or large detail- the 60 Ford is a boat). Many, many, many happy years to two dear friends, Julie and Sean!

Nina- Cranston, RI Senior Portraits and Rhode Island Senior Portraits

Nina's mom described her in her email as artsy, creative and fun. She was all three of those things and more. She brought her friend along and the three of us had a lot to talk about. The girls take photography in school so I think that Nina had a natural inclination to pose in just the right way. When I suggested some offbeat, run-down mill buildings, she was all about it! I like it when a session can take a turn for the unexpected (and I was even more excited about the end result with the sun flare!) Nina- I wish you a wonderful, fun senior year. *On a side note- I'm noticing my galleries do not view properly in Internet Explorer. Try using Firefox for the ease of scrolling through each photo.

Kate- Cranston, RI and Rhode Island Maternity Photos

Kate is the mama to quite possibly the most photographed kid ever. And with baby #2 on the way, this one is sure to follow. Last Sunday, while the guys watched the Patriots, we took a spin down to Edgewood in Cranston and did some photos around the area. The sun was just coming down and we shot until dark. I know it's tough for pregnant ladies to be up, down, sitting, standing, on rocks, on benches and more, but Kate did everything I asked! Thanks Kate! Looking forward to the new little one. Auntie Steph has her camera all ready.

Ryan, Erin and Michael- Cranston, RI Engagement and Children's Photography

Erin called me to do Ryan's 18 month portraits but they are also getting married (and guess who the lucky photog is?!) and wanted to do a few engagement like shots. It was a perfect sunny day to take the time to relax with this great couple and have some fun. Now the countdown is on for their awesome wedding!

Olivia's First Birthday- Cranston, RI Children's Photography

Olivia was an absolute cutie pie- she just turned 1 and her parents wanted to take some pictures before the weather turned. We took advantage of the park and Olivia smiled through it all- we posed her on the stairs, on a bench, on the grass and to the side of a yoga group at the Temple of Music :) You never know what will make a good background!

Abbey- Cranston, RI Senior Photography, Rhode Island Senior Photography

Abbey had the genuine beauty that makes a portrait so easy to photograph. She took direction with ease, had perfectly coordinated outfits and was open to suggestions about what to do and how to pose. She will soon be beginning her senior year and is excited about all the wonderful things in her future- the prom, college visits and all the sports teams she plays for in the fall and spring. I wish you the best in all you do Abbey!

Anna's 6 Month Portraits- Cranston, RI Photography

The start of this session might have been the fastest I've ever worked-- rain was on the way. We could hear the thunder as we started to shoot so we did what we could and decided to call it a day. Bethany, Anna's mom, and her mom met me again the next day to work on the second half....which included my favorite dress. The polka dot. I couldn't get over how cute Anna was in that floppy hat! She rocked it! We also did some pictures that are going to be used as a present for someone, so while I can't show them here, I sure hope the recipient loves all the giggles and smiles Anna had to offer!

Babies, Babies, Babies- Cranston, RI Photography

I've been on a baby photo shoot kick! What's great about children's photography is that you always get to do one or more family shots and see the lovable interaction between a mom, dad and their child/children. No matter what, families are always willing to do whatever it takes to get their child to smile- whether it's silly faces, jumping up and down....you name it. I don't think anything is too strange, since I'm usually on the floor with them acting just as funny. Because I have been a little bit behind with the changing over of my website, I hope no one will mind a little slide show of my newest shoots (ps- it goes on to a second page so don't miss out on little Avery!) :)

Shea- Cranston, RI Portrait and Children's Photography

Shea- what a great little man. At 18 months, he is full of personality and owns a wide variety of hats. He really enjoyed the ducks, the swings, the beach, the boats...he smiled through it all even though it was his bedtime. At least Shea knows that we all must suffer a little for art, ha ha! As my friend Kate asked me, can we just take the curls off his head and paste them to our own? He has some of the most beautiful curls and big brown eyes I've ever seen! I hope he enjoyed his weekend on Block Island with his mom and dad, Marissa and Matt :) I look forward to our next shoot!

4th of July-- North Kingstown, RI and Cranston, RI Portrait Photography

Each year, Bryan and I are lucky enough to spend the 4th of July with the Caito's at their awesome beachfront property. It's a tradition and something we look forward to all spring long. I also look forward to SNARKing with Julie. I'm sad no one was able to get a picture of us "launching" the SNARK yesterday. Last year we capsized, but this year we were able to keep it right side up and have a successful sail.

I heart Faces- Let's Hear it for the Boys

Oooooh, my Jackson. I had this idea for a shaving session and luckily Jack's mom was on board with how I wanted to execute this....until life got in the way and we were behind schedule on all the big plans.  So, improvise we did. Me, the 5dmkii, 24-70, one flash, one stool and a lady's razor. End of story! I'll do a separate post of the rest too :)
