Tera and Tyler- Rhode Island Trash the Dress Photo Session
/Ah, the small world continues. I was contacted by Tera who wanted to do some trash the dress photos and as we started talking, she is from Eau Claire, WI where my husband was born. What are the odds? Only in the Rhode Island! We had a great time doing some farm shots- I was enthralled with this truck!
Matt, Tara and Ezra- Rhode Island Family Portraits, Jamestown, RI Family Photography
/To say that I think Matt, Tara and Ezra are awesome is an understatement. Matt is owner of Blueflash Photography (home of the Blue Cube!) and Tara is the creativity behind The Tiny Hummingbird. I really admire both of them. Tara used to teach in Cranston too (it all comes full circle with us teachers!) Bryan and I had talked to them right after Emmett was born about doing family photos together. We met in Jamestown at Plum Point. It was really, really sunny and so we used the bridge for some cover. We had a great time- Matt got some awesome shots of us as a new family and I was able to capture them in a natural, relaxed way- playing and laughing with Ez. We also took photos of each other for our websites- so make sure to check mine out here!
Gabriella Turns 2!
/Melissa is a good friend of mine and also a colleague. She is the type of teacher you want your own children to have. We also worked together at the public library, so I've known her for many years. She asked me to do her daughter's 2 year old pictures and we got absolutely beautiful weather at one of my favorite spots- the museum at Roger Williams Park. Armed with a tutu and tiara (and several wardrobe changes), Gabriella was ready to rock! I can't wait to see her outfit at 3 years old! :)
I have been on break!
/Hi all,As many of you know, I've been on break from photography while being home with my new little photography subject. He was born six weeks ago and I just feel like I'm getting back to the land of the living. There were a few shoots I did before he was born that I never got to posting, so here are a few little peeks of what I did in January.
Jeff and Kristi Get Married- East Providence, RI Wedding Photography
/Jeff and Kristi were married at Wannamoisett Country Club in East Providence in September. It was a really fun day. The weather was perfect and the sun was at a great angle for the formals. You can see a lot of their other pictures here but I just wanted to share some of my favorite of the two of them from the day. Best wishes to an awesome couple that I met through Jeff's sister, who is also a teacher. See, teachers know everyone hahaha!
Avery's 6 Month Portraits- Cranston, RI and North Providence, RI Portrait Photography
/Avery is such a joy to photograph. She's really easy going and allows her mom to dress her in several outfits per session, which is good because her mom has a flair for buying the right clothes to capture many different moods, feels and holidays! This last session was a combo Christmas card, Halloween, one dressy and one casual outfit session. It was great. The sun was coming down at just the right time and I was able to do some family portraits as well. I can't wait to see what Avery's mom cooks up for our next session!
Patrick and Delaney- Narragansett, RI Children's Portraits
/Patrick and Delaney are two of the most lovely kids you will meet (which I attribute to both their personalities and their awesome parents, Bridget and Sean). They both had plenty of things to show me in their backyard and Patrick kept making sure his little sis was in on all the action. If I told them to stand with each other, Patrick had his arm out to welcome Delaney in for a hug and a kiss. It's great to see siblings that appreciate and enjoy each other so much. As the sun was sinking in the sky, we got some awesome "hair light" which gave a golden glow to their skin and I think you'll be able to tell which picture had the most apparent angelic glow. I hope we get to hang out again someday kiddos because I will certainly be seeing your mom soon at our favorite restaurant, Crazy Burger!
Anna's 6 Month Portraits- Cranston, RI Photography
/The start of this session might have been the fastest I've ever worked-- rain was on the way. We could hear the thunder as we started to shoot so we did what we could and decided to call it a day. Bethany, Anna's mom, and her mom met me again the next day to work on the second half....which included my favorite dress. The polka dot. I couldn't get over how cute Anna was in that floppy hat! She rocked it! We also did some pictures that are going to be used as a present for someone, so while I can't show them here, I sure hope the recipient loves all the giggles and smiles Anna had to offer!
Kathy and Devin- Sudbury, MA Wedding
/My good friend, Jon, is not only a great photographer but he's practically Stephanie Mills Photography's one man advertising campaign/PR firm. He's helped me get this website done, helped me launch my side project Photos for Joe in honor of my brother, and does me the favor of suggesting my name to people looking for a photographer. Rewind a few months and Kathy, Jon's co-worker at Atlantis Technology (not to be confused with my awesome husband's Atlantis Pool Service) said she was looking for a wedding photographer. She lives in CA but planned her wedding long distance. Jon put the two of us in touch and we quickly became friends. Kathy even sent me an invitation to her wedding with a +1 and told me when my time taking pictures was done to just enjoy and have fun (which I did, to the tune of two desserts including an Its It. Don't know what that is? Imagine two oatmeal cookies stuffed with ice cream and then dipped in chocolate). Kathy and Devin embodied what a wedding should be-- low stress, full of smiles and over-the-top love. They married in Kathy's hometown church and then had the reception on a horse farm in Sudbury. The weather was perfect and as the sun sank lower in the sky, we did our formals and it was awesome. I wish Kathy and Devin a lifetime of happiness in their new hometown of Oakland!

Babies, Babies, Babies- Cranston, RI Photography
/I've been on a baby photo shoot kick! What's great about children's photography is that you always get to do one or more family shots and see the lovable interaction between a mom, dad and their child/children. No matter what, families are always willing to do whatever it takes to get their child to smile- whether it's silly faces, jumping up and down....you name it. I don't think anything is too strange, since I'm usually on the floor with them acting just as funny. Because I have been a little bit behind with the changing over of my website, I hope no one will mind a little slide show of my newest shoots (ps- it goes on to a second page so don't miss out on little Avery!) :)

Shea- Cranston, RI Portrait and Children's Photography
/Shea- what a great little man. At 18 months, he is full of personality and owns a wide variety of hats. He really enjoyed the ducks, the swings, the beach, the boats...he smiled through it all even though it was his bedtime. At least Shea knows that we all must suffer a little for art, ha ha! As my friend Kate asked me, can we just take the curls off his head and paste them to our own? He has some of the most beautiful curls and big brown eyes I've ever seen! I hope he enjoyed his weekend on Block Island with his mom and dad, Marissa and Matt :) I look forward to our next shoot!
4th of July-- North Kingstown, RI and Cranston, RI Portrait Photography
/Each year, Bryan and I are lucky enough to spend the 4th of July with the Caito's at their awesome beachfront property. It's a tradition and something we look forward to all spring long. I also look forward to SNARKing with Julie. I'm sad no one was able to get a picture of us "launching" the SNARK yesterday. Last year we capsized, but this year we were able to keep it right side up and have a successful sail.
I heart Faces- Let's Hear it for the Boys
/Oooooh, my Jackson. I had this idea for a shaving session and luckily Jack's mom was on board with how I wanted to execute this....until life got in the way and we were behind schedule on all the big plans. So, improvise we did. Me, the 5dmkii, 24-70, one flash, one stool and a lady's razor. End of story! I'll do a separate post of the rest too :)
I Heart Faces- Bright and Vivid
/I had a few pictures in mind for this week's topic of bright and vivid but this picture of Eva and Cameron won in my head. I think the judges at I Heart Faces would laugh at the amount of thought I put into choosing my picture each week- you might think I was going for the Pulitzer! I Heart Faces has helped me really look at my photography in a different way- anyone out there looking to stretch their ability should head on over!
The Doorley Family- Cranston, RI Family Portraits
/I adore the Doorley Family. I have the pleasure of working with Kate and her mom is a former school teacher in our system. Her sister, mom to the adorable and wonderful Eva and Cameron, is also a teacher. They wanted to do a family photo shoot and we decided to do the photos downtown. I think it was a great location. The weather was perfect, their outfits were totally coordinated and we missed being caught in the middle of a marathon by just a few minutes! Talk about luck! We had a great time and their love for each other shows!
Henry- Cranston, RI Children and Family Portraits
/Henry is my little buddy! I've gotten to do three shoots with him and his awesome mom and dad. Darlene and Seth are great parents- you can see how much joy there is in just spending time together. They have a relaxed demeanor and are happy to let Henry just be Henry for pictures. Seth is great as my photo assistant- he stood over my to give me a shadow since it was VERY sunny that day. Roger Williams Park is a favorite place of mine to shoot- there are so many different "types" of places and we took advantage of it all!
Tommy Pickles-- Cranston, RI Children and Family Photography
/OK, so, here's the story with Marco and Jeanne. I went to the prom with Marco in 10th grade. Diana is my and Marco's best friend (still, to this day!). Diana goes off to Boston University and gets a roommate named Jeanne. Jeanne and Marco meet-- love. They get married, move to Delaware and have this adorable, perfect little man that Jeanne calls Tommy Pickles. Diana is obsessed with him. I facebook connect with Jeanne and Marco and they are visiting for Easter. We do pictures. It was amazing. Tommy was SO much fun and Jeanne loves the picture where it appears he is wearing fur chaps. Love it!
