Thom and Nancy- East Greenwich, RI Wedding
/I don't frequently photograph weddings but sometimes I receive referrals from my friends at Blueflash Photography or from clients that have done family photos with me and are passing my name along to other friends and family. This wedding was really special. The Sunday afternoon ceremony and dinner at 1149 was perfect. Thom and Nancy were overjoyed to get married. They had a small wedding and incorporated their friend in by having her sing during the ceremony and Thom's girls be a part of the ceremony as well. Thom's grandkids ran around and one of my favorite pictures of the day is Thom catching a quiet moment alone with his granddaughter.
B's Newborn Session- Cumberland, RI Photography
/I feel so bad that I'm behind on blogging because when it comes to doing newborn photos, each day makes such a difference. B is now a smiling, gorgeous little baby, enjoying all the summer activities RI has to offer. I'm really excited to be photographing her with her cousins in a few weeks. This session was a breeze. The beautiful lighting that the family's home had allowed us to do beautiful natural light portraits (and get Grandma in there too!) and B slept through the entire session making it easy for us to cuddle her.
The R Family
/This beautiful family contacted me in February about photos in July! I love families that plan ahead. It gave us plenty of time to think about a location and we ended up going with Narragansett Beach since they are from out of state and have enjoyed spending time there. I love the color coordination of their outfits-- as well as the early morning light. With an almost empty beach and some big beautiful clouds, it was a perfect session!
Cousins- Smithfield, RI Family Photography
/Cara and her sister booked me for separate sessions so I asked if they would like to do back to back sessions and get a picture of all of the grandkids together for her parents. She was really excited because she knew her parents would go crazy for one! I was excited to work with them to create some fun family portraits. Cara's husband is the funniest guy I've ever met and had the kids laughing from the beginning of the session until the end. I think I have myself a new assistant.
The F Family
/I really enjoy creating relationships with clients. This is the third time, in the past two years, I have worked with this awesome family and we even have another session scheduled for October. They are very much believers that their children change so much at this age and they want to preserve it as much as possible. Both parents come to sessions relaxed and allow the pictures to just happen. It's a photographer's dream.
The K Family- Narragansett, RI Portrait Photography
/This is the second time I have worked with Bridget and her family and I love them. Both times we caught the nicest golden hour, resulting in beautiful light. Shooting about an hour and a half before sunset really helps your photos get that golden glow. The kids were so awesome-- they ran, they played, they jumped…there's too many fun photos to post here. I even had to limit myself from the first batch I had ready to put on the blog. My favorite picture of the day, though, is Patrick and Delaney pointing out where their dad is from-- they have lots of family in Australia and even got to visit last summer. I believe that experience and cultural exposure has helped shaped them into the great kids they are (of course, amazing parents help too!) :)
The C Family- Cranston, RI Cake Smash, Cranston, RI Family Photography, Cranston, RI Portrait Photography
/When Melissa called me to photograph her daughter's first birthday, I couldn't help but be not-so-secretly thrilled. Everything Melissa does is with an eye for detail and flair. I knew her daughters would be adorably dressed and excited for their session. Her oldest asked for days in advance, "when is the photographer getting here to take my picture?!?" Needless to say, it made my job very easy since both of them were perfectly behaved, smiley and full of energy for the multiple places we moved them for a variety of "looks." We went from dressy to cake smashing and I loved it!
The Celeste Family- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography, Cranston, RI Family Photography
/I love these people. Seriously. Matt did my awesome Mother's Day photos, which you can see on his blog. Side note: If you need your wedding photos taken, check out Blueflash. You won't be disappointed. Matt's got a ridiculous eye for detail, color and fun. While we were out for my session, I asked if they wanted a few family photos. They were game and conveniently, I had my camera with me (mostly because I knew Tara would wear something adorable and striped and I couldn't pass up the photographic opportunity. She is just so darn cute all the time). Ezra, their son, had found a giant stick that somehow managed to make its way into their family photos. As I quoted that day, "Speak softly and carry a big stick during a family photo." What I love most about these few photos is that they are real. They are squirmy toddlers, grinning babies, doting dads and laughing moms. That's what photography is all about. The here, the now and the opposite of a perfectly posed, everyone-sitting-still photo. I've shot family photos for Tara and Matt three times and they said they loved these best because they are the Celeste family. Just as they are.
Julie's Maternity Session- Cranston, RI Maternity Photos, Barrington, RI Maternity Photography
/In a previous post, you may have noticed Jen in the same location. These two friends booked their session the same day and helped each other out with the kids during each other's sessions. What a dream! We had so much fun taking these pictures because the "G'' family is all about fun. Tommy was the star of the show with his little sunglasses and when their new baby arrives next month, we already have some ideas on how to re-take a few of these with baby G as the new addition!
Izabella is One- Cranston, RI Portrait Photography
/Bella's auntie works for my husband and was SO excited to book a one year cake smash for her. She called and said she was going to help shop for the outfit and help make the owl cake! Now THAT'S an aunt :) Bella was an absolute doll and had an awesome time sitting in a suitcase. The funny part was when she wasn't sure how she felt about the cake and very gingerly picked a piece off before deciding that yes, yes indeed, she would smash that cake!
The Cousins- Foster, RI Children's Photography
/Jeanne emailed me asking if I'd consider a crazy request (of course, I would! For you and Marco, anything!!!) She wondered if I might like to do portraits of five cousins all in one day. All the families live in different states and would be together for a baptism. I though it sounded like a ton of fun so I went to Foster and photographed all of the kids over the course of two hours. We had a blast. I won't deny there was some bribing with M and Ms for a few smiles but I'd say the candy was worth it! I hope I can do this again for them next year.
