Thom and Nancy- East Greenwich, RI Wedding
/I don't frequently photograph weddings but sometimes I receive referrals from my friends at Blueflash Photography or from clients that have done family photos with me and are passing my name along to other friends and family. This wedding was really special. The Sunday afternoon ceremony and dinner at 1149 was perfect. Thom and Nancy were overjoyed to get married. They had a small wedding and incorporated their friend in by having her sing during the ceremony and Thom's girls be a part of the ceremony as well. Thom's grandkids ran around and one of my favorite pictures of the day is Thom catching a quiet moment alone with his granddaughter.
Zach and Mike- Jamestown, RI Wedding Photography
/I rarely post weddings-- partially because my business is built on family and children's photography so I don't do a lot of weddings. I really only shoot them for people I know or referrals I receive from Blueflash Photography. Let me state a fact: I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS (especially when I work with Kate Caito Parties). The reason I don't photograph more weddings is more about time. The fact that I work a full time job and have a family and do a lot of children's work makes it tough to fit it all in-- it certainly isn't from my lack of wedding love or the joy I get from taking photos of such an amazing occasion. I often refer wedding inquiries to Blueflash because they are so phenomenal but I miss weddings when I go too long in between shooting them. When I was invited to be a guest at Mike and Zach's wedding, I asked if they would mind if I brought my camera. They were excited because they didn't hire a specific photographer. They knew friends and family would bring their cameras and that would provide the coverage they needed. I asked them to pose for a few for me and I'm happy I did. The setting, the couple, the LOVE that was present there will not be forgotten.
B's Newborn Session- Cumberland, RI Photography
/I feel so bad that I'm behind on blogging because when it comes to doing newborn photos, each day makes such a difference. B is now a smiling, gorgeous little baby, enjoying all the summer activities RI has to offer. I'm really excited to be photographing her with her cousins in a few weeks. This session was a breeze. The beautiful lighting that the family's home had allowed us to do beautiful natural light portraits (and get Grandma in there too!) and B slept through the entire session making it easy for us to cuddle her.
The B and G Family- North Kingstown, RI Family Photography
/When Julie asked me to photograph her family, she also asked if maybe we could do a few of her brother and his fiancé. I really loved photographing them at a location near and dear to them-- the Wickford Yacht Club, where they are members. The sky was perfect that day and they enjoyed spending time together as a family before Chris and Amy flew back to sunny Florida.
The R Family
/This beautiful family contacted me in February about photos in July! I love families that plan ahead. It gave us plenty of time to think about a location and we ended up going with Narragansett Beach since they are from out of state and have enjoyed spending time there. I love the color coordination of their outfits-- as well as the early morning light. With an almost empty beach and some big beautiful clouds, it was a perfect session!
The F Family
/I really enjoy creating relationships with clients. This is the third time, in the past two years, I have worked with this awesome family and we even have another session scheduled for October. They are very much believers that their children change so much at this age and they want to preserve it as much as possible. Both parents come to sessions relaxed and allow the pictures to just happen. It's a photographer's dream.
The Triplets are back! Narragansett, RI Portrait Photography
/My good friend Rosie called and asked if I would come and photograph her triplet grandchildren while they were on vacation in RI. Um, YES! I can't think of anything more awesome than three adorable little ones on the beach. We did photos last year as well and it was great to chase them around on a different beach this summer. The difference between two and a half and three and a half is incredible. The kids were eager to pose individually. I can't wait to see them again next year-- it's really fun to feel like you are watching your clients grow up.
The C Family- Cranston, RI Cake Smash, Cranston, RI Family Photography, Cranston, RI Portrait Photography
/When Melissa called me to photograph her daughter's first birthday, I couldn't help but be not-so-secretly thrilled. Everything Melissa does is with an eye for detail and flair. I knew her daughters would be adorably dressed and excited for their session. Her oldest asked for days in advance, "when is the photographer getting here to take my picture?!?" Needless to say, it made my job very easy since both of them were perfectly behaved, smiley and full of energy for the multiple places we moved them for a variety of "looks." We went from dressy to cake smashing and I loved it!
The B Family- Lincoln, RI Family Portraits, Lincoln, RI Portrait Photography
/The B Family moved to RI in the summer and were preparing for a long winter ahead. They are not used to this kind of weather...so maybe posting this blog post about 6 months after their photos will help remind them that Rhode Island is warm at some points during the year! I once again apologize for being so behind on blogging. I'd say it was my New Year's resolution but considering it is February, I already broke it :) Talk about cuteness overload for this session. It's really hard to narrow down a blog post to just a few photos so I'm going all out on this one...
The H Family- Rhode Island Family Photography
/Alicia is the art teacher where I work and she is beyond creative. I love her sense of style and when she told me she wanted to do photos, I thought a long time before I chose a spot. I knew it had to be farm themed and with the sun coming down, I think it was the perfect setting for her family photos.
The S Family
/Carolyn is one of my favorite teachers in the world. I worked with her at Cole and she is truly the definition of a great teacher. When we worked together, I remember how badly she wanted to start a family and just a few years later, she, along with Tim, have three adorable girls. We used land they own in West Greenwich on a damp and drizzly night but the color scheme made everything seem as bright as a summer day.
Emma, Steven and Derek- Cranston, RI Children's Portraits
/I loved Diane's explanation as to why she wanted more photos of the kids a few months after we did their first session... "I want to remember them this way. They change so fast." They really do-- I always thought that people who said that were just making it up. Then I became a mom and now I can't get over how I feel like I'm in a time warp! The nice thing is that at least Emma is still in charge of keeping the boys in line ;-)
Kelly, Rip and Isla- Rhode Island Lifestyle Newborn Portraits
/Newborn photography is such a specialized field- you have to be a photographer and baby whisperer at the same time. I wanted to try a few new things and do an in-home newborn portrait since being home with a baby is enough work as it is :) Thanks Kelly and Rip for allowing me to spend the afternoon with you and that little doll- Isla Wednesday.
Tommy's Cake Smash-- Cranston, RI Cake Smash, Cranston, RI Children's Portraiture
/Tommy may not have been feeling well the day of his cake smash, but he powered through (coincidentally, he did the same thing my son did- he enjoyed smearing the frosting but not necessarily eating the cake ha ha!). Nothing makes a little cold fade faster than the magic of sprinkles! Julie, Tommy's mom, made the cake and the banner and his grandmother sewed the outfit. It was the perfect combo of color and creativity and made this session stand out! We also did a few photos of Tommy in a handsome outfit...stay tuned for those.
